Vision of the Seas delays Feb. 19 sailing for one day
Royal Caribbean’s Vision of the Seas will be grounded for 24 hours on Feb. 19 to repair a short circuit in the starboard propulsion motor.
The problem, which renders the ship unable to use its starboard propeller and to travel at slower speeds, occurred on Feb. 9 when the ship was maneuvering to dock in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, according to Royal Caribbean spokesman Michael Sheehan.
Passengers onboard at the time of the incident arrived in back Los Angeles several hours late to end their cruise. Meanwhile, the next sailing’s passengers lost a stop in Puerto Vallarta and were compensated with $100 in onboard credit or the opportunity to cancel the trip and receive full credit towards a future sailing.
Passengers slated to leave on the Feb. 19 from Los Angeles are being notified of the ship’s delay and that it will miss its call in Mazatlan, Mexico. They also can cancel for credit, or if they decide to sail, will be awarded $200 in onboard credit.
Sheehan said that only a few dozen passengers have decided not to sail.
