Submit a rhyme in due time; it need not be sublime
The resort city of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, is offering a week’s stay for two for the best creative expression of “Why I Love Puerto Vallarta.”
One of the favorite methods of responding, so far, has been the limerick. Here’s Spencer Schell of Winnipeg:
I said to my wife, “Let’s departa
For the sunshine of Puerto Vallarta
We’ll dance and we’ll swim
We’ll be filled with such vim
That a second honeymoon we’ll a’ starta.”
You have to love a poem that uses both “starta” and “departa.” But enough of Old Mexico. What about Huntsville? What limerick could describe our happy home?
I asked the newsroom for help coming up with a few. It would cut down the column workload, I reasoned, but I knew it was risky. Sure enough, one reply started this way.
