From the 22nd until the 31st of October 2008, the third ever international movie festival will take place in Rome. The Festival Internazionale del Film di Roma isnīt only about movies as you can guess from its name; there will also be a whole host of concerts and exhibitions. In total, there will be 200 movies presented, with 20 of them competing against each other to get the “Golden Marc Aurel”.
You should keep an eye on the red carpet since there might be a lot of famous people attending.
The festival first took place in 2006 and a big amount of money was spent in order to compete against the Venice Movie Festival. Still, the festival could not make it into the so-called A-list of events, but nevertheless, stars like Nicole Kidman, Leonardo DiCaprio or Sean Connery have already made an appearance. This year, the organizers of the festival had the aim of bringing people together that love movies but also them who haven’t been to any festival of this kind before.
When the festival starts on 22nd October, there will be a great event with the topic ‘Brazil’. This will take place at the Piazza Navona and you will see a lot of artists showing what they can do. Another highlight will be the Tibetan day which will deal with Tibetan cinema and documentary movies. Even the Dalai Lama will be present on that day! On the 25th of October there will be a German day and German movies will be presented. One of these movies will be the critically acclaimed “7 days Sunday” by Niels Laupert.

The prices vary since you can choose which parts you want to see and which events you want to visit. Have a look for special offers as you can see a lot of the festival but save some money at the same time with these offers.
As you can see, there is a lot to see and do during the movie festival in Rome. So you should really plan some more days so that you can see all the monuments in Rome as well.
