Grupo Aeroportuario Del Pacifico Reports Increased Terminal Passenger Traffic For June – Update
The Guadalajara, Mexico based company’s terminal passenger traffic rose 2.3% to 1.58 million from 1.55 million in the prior year period. International terminal passenger traffic improved 8.4% to 0.65 million from 0.60 million in the same period last year.
The highest improvement was at Los Cabos with an increase of 19,600 passengers or 11.1%, Puerto Vallarta 14,900 passengers or 10%, and Guadalajara 18,400 passengers or 10.5%. The improvements at Guadalajara were due to an increase in flights to and from Los Angeles, while the increases at Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos were reportedly driven by tourists from the United States and Canada.
However, domestic terminal passenger traffic declined 1.5% to 0.94 million from 0.95 million in the last year period, attributed primarily to reduction of passengers at the airports of La Paz, Hermosillo, Bajio, Los Mochis, Morelia, Tijuana, Manzanillo and Mexicali.
Weekly schedule operated by low-cost carriers end June 2006, indicated an increase of 54 new frequencies and a total of 239 departure frequencies, compared to May 2006.
During the first six months of 2006, a total of 535,300 passengers were served by low-cost carriers, including Interjet, Avolar, Volaris, Alma and Click, representing 9.3% of the total number of domestic passengers in the period.
